Eco Factor: Vertical garden based on hydroponic plant growing technology.
Industrial designer Manuel Dreesmann is envisioning the year 2020, when most of the buildings will be self-sufficient not only in terms of energy and water, but will also rely on hydroponic plant growing technology to grow all the food that its occupants need. The designer has come up with a conceptual vertical garden that allows owners to grow food crops on windows and building facades.
Dubbed Vertical Garden, the concept features double glass facades which includes growing units that are transported in a paternoster system driven by the water supply. Plants are taken and can be picked up in self-service units.
