Chinese farmer creates an indigenous aircraft from recycled parts

Ever had those pleasant reveries of soaring high up in the sky, with you at the helm of some kind of a flying craft? Well, even if we had one, most of us would then wake up to reality; by treating it as some unfulfilled dream and going back to our daily jobs. However, that is not at all the case with one desperate and ambitious Chinese farmer. 58 year old Li Jingchun from Liaoning province has conspired to pursue his dreams of flying by personally contriving a real time aircraft!

Farmer’s self made plane

The so called aircraft in question is actually made from mostly salvaged iron plates. In fact, if we consider its dimensions, the plane is pretty small with only 5m of length and 1.5m of width. The total cost of assembling the parts and fixing them to form a credible bearing, came to a figure of around 40,000 yuan for the farmer, which is around $6,349.

However, coming to the million dollar question that is haunting all of us: does this contraption really work? Well, reverting back to our experience, we would say no. By the looks of the ragtag stage of construction, the wingspan is simply not expansive enough for the gliding factor. Moreover, the seemingly cumbersome metallic structure with its bulky weight is not at all conducive to improved aerodynamics.

Now, make no mistake; beyond its functionality, we would still root for the conception. After all, it is a fitting tribute to aviation, achieved by two years of painstaking dedication from a common man. And, also, we can always consider it as a sculpture made from recycled materials.
