solar powered air conditioner unveiled in china

Eco Factor: Air-conditioning system powered by solar energy.

During hot summer months the cost of running an air-conditioning system can run hundreds of dollars and with climate getting hotter due to global warming, the need for air-conditioning systems is also on the rise. A Chinese manufacturer Vicot has unveiled a new air conditioner that is being claimed to be the first such system powered directly by solar energy.

The machine claims 85 percent thermal cooling conversion efficiency and can utilize solar energy at 27 times what a typical water-heating unit is capable of. The eco-friendly air conditioner allows for 24/7 cooling, heating and a supply of hot water with natural gas used to supplement solar energy when needed. The manufacturer is claiming that the initial cost of the setup can be recouped in just 3.5 years and the total investment can be recovered in 6.7 years.
