China to build ‘world’s largest solar energy production base’ in Dezhou

Eco Factor: $740 million development aims to be clean energy hub of China.

China is aiming to provide a clean-technology answer to California’s Silicon Valley by developing a $740 million facility will be developed outside Dezhou, China and will be the clean energy hub of the country. The development will be anchored by Himin Solar Energy Group and will provide space for 100 companies in total.

The development will feature spawned factories, a research center and wide boulevards illuminate by solar-powered lights. The city with 600,000 inhabitants featuring suburban sprawl housing 5 million people, not touts itself as China Solar City, a hub for clean-tech manufacturing.

The Chinese government has offers substantial support for the project, including preferential tax benefits and other supporting policies. The project is definitely a true example of how China is moving rapidly to lead the global clean energy industry. The country is already the largest manufacturer of solar panels and wind turbines in the world and developments like the Solar Valley will help it maintain its lead.
