China is investing in electric car charging stations to encourage people to buy electric cars

China seems to have a penchant for electric cars, which is why it has decided to invest in installing numerous charging stations for electric vehicles throughout the country. The main purpose behind this gesture of the Chinese government is to give a boost to the demand of eco-friendly cars. The government has a plan to fund $ 16 billion (100 billion Yuan) for the project, but the schedule of the program and the type of electric cars that could use the chargers is still a mystery.

investmentThe idea of installing electric car chargers at various places seems to be quite helpful. A major reason why people do not buy electric cars is the fact that if the battery goes out while on the highway, they will be stuck, unlike fuel-based cars for which every other corner has a gas station. If electric car charger stations will be at various places just like the gas stations, there are good high chances that people will start going in for electric cars on a major scale.

Electric automakers are also investing in charging networks so that their buyers get an easy and a convenient access to the charging hubs. Tesla Motors Inc, one of the biggest electric automakers, has installed more than 100 charging stations in US and around seventy in Europe and Asia. Other automakers also have plans to spread their charging networks in countries where their buyers are.

electric car charging stationChina has taken the charging station initiative in order to bring down the air pollution that is widespread in all its cities. This initiative has benefitted the Chinese automaker, BYD Company Ltd. The company has a real push in revenue coming from the new energy vehicles, hybrid-electric cars, and buses. The company is aiming to engross more and more buyers with its all-new range of electric vehicles in the year 2014.

Besides this initiative, there is yet another initiative taken by the Chinese government to increase the use of electric cars in the country. That initiative was to create an electric car fleet for the government. At least thirty percent of the cars in the fleet must be electric cars. China is the largest auto market in the world when it comes to the total number of cars sold per year. The greater the number of cars, the more air pollution it creates. Therefore, these initiatives were of paramount importance in order to bring down the air pollution levels.

Summary

China is attempting to reduce air pollution caused by vehicles by investing heavily in electric cars. The country plans $16billion investment in charging stations to bring easy access to electric vehicles.
