Busan Opera House to be designed in the form of an artificial mountain

Busan Opera House

A synthetic mountainous structure standing high in the Marine ethnic constituency has been proposed for the Busan Opera House design. This gigantic figure, designed by Emergent Architecture, beautifies the glory of city as it could be seen as a prominent composition from all over the bay.

It will encompass two big auditoriums, one having 2000 seat opera and the other having 1300 seat multifunctional theatre. These accommodations will be made in the outer structure of the building where spacious passageways and outlook will enhance the beauty of the shell. Entrance will be made towards waterfront to add to the beauty of this magnificent shell.

Its superficial architecture has been designed in diversified ways. At some corners it has been given an extremely thin and lofty look whereas thick and spatial at the others. It has been made fully functional with public and private support facilities. Elevators form an integral part of this dazzling structure.

The number of grand openings for entering the opera house draws in large number of visitors and creates ambient atmosphere inside the building. The elaborate architectural pattern weaves the entire organization with multiple windows and dispersions. Vast space inside the mountainous structure helps in creating a local atmospheric zone. It presents an open air space bounded by roofs and walls in a way such that a spatial boundary is formed without letting rain, sun and wind enter the premises. Its structure has been planned keeping in mind the extreme hot days as well as monsoon days of Busan. This comfortable, protected architecture has been created on top of a platform. The platform serves as an interface between the ground and the building and therefore, has not been fused with the building.

Parking facility, staging, storage, technical rooms etc., have been accommodated in the building for public convenience. In short, this building is a perfect blend of natural beauty and modern functionality.
