The Bubble Bike is a low-cost alternative to conventional two-wheelers and tries to better the experience of the rider with a canopy. The vehicle has been designed for north Asian countries where temperatures drop below zero in winter and makes it difficult to ride a scooter.
The Bubble Bike is a recipient of a 2009 Red Star Design Award and will sell for about $730. The electric vehicle recharges from a domestic power socket in about eight hours after which it is good for a 100km drive at a top speed of 45kph. The manufacturers are trying to better the vehicle with alternative batteries that can be recharged quickly and can last for a distance in excess of 200km.
