Are you for a look-out for an exciting eco-tourism package? Earthrace, in itself is one-of-a-kind that will add to your environmentally responsible nature while traveling. This biodiesel-powered boat, weighing 10tonnes can withstand rough seas!

Designed by Craig Loomis Design Group and built by Calibre Boats, the 78 feet-length boat is also constructed in a eco-friendly way. It is a lightweight carbon composite; the lower-deck floor is made of renewable hemp! Organic compounds are also used to keep barnacles off the boat’s bottom – as the commonly used waxy chemicals leach out into the water.

Specially designed with a needle nose to pierce through waves, Earthrace hopes to be the first high-tech powerboat to travel around the world on this – biodiesel — renewable fuel. Its design prevents the boat from rising or undulating over the huge waves, thus making sailing smooth and safe.

The main attraction of the Earthrace Project, this eco-boat was docked in San Francisco for a six-month, 30-city tour for promoting renewable fuels. It will culminate with an around-the-world speedboat race in March 2007.
