Eco Factor: Bicycle sharing system to include over 8000 bicycles.
Italian designer Stefano Marchetto is proposing a sustainable bike sharing system for the city of Copenhagen. Dubbed Bicyclus, the socially sustainable program will allow the residents to commute in the city without accounting for any toxic emissions.
The system will feature about 8000 bicycles each of which will be equipped with a resistive touchscreen to display information related to the city. Moreover, the system will allow the rider to communicate with other bikers.
When not being used, the bicycles will be docked to any of the several stations placed all over the city. The stations will charge the bicycle’s battery that provides energy to the onboard computer using solar energy.
