Atmos Clock: Clocks powered by the change in temperature!

I really like watches and stuff that run without batteries as just like plastic I do believe that they are widespread waste and get accumulated pretty quickly in a pretty large number. But unlike the curse of plastic, we have found many easy and energy efficient ways to replace batteries in a wide variety of fields. In the last few years plenty of watches have been unveiled that actually have no batteries and either work on solar energy or the kinetic energy of the body. Even if they are really not as popular as yet, surely they will get more acceptance when the costs relatively even out.

The Atmos 561 Clock, made by Jaeger LeCoultre and designed by Mark Newson, is powered entirely by changes in temperature and sits inside a block of crystal for good measure. According to The Watchismo Times, a change in temperature of one degree Celsius can power the clock for two days. This is obviously nothing amazingly new but here is another gadget that saves your energy in a very fashionable and beautiful way.

I’m pretty certain that many would not mind buying these clocks even if they were not green as they look good and stylish anyway. But the extra charm of green tinge adds a lot to the clocks. A mixture of Ethyl Chloride and “gas” is what reacts to the temperature change and expands against a spring in a chamber, which then converts its stored potential energy into clock power and so on and so forth. Another green gadget that dispenses with toxic waste is always welcome!
