Amazing ripeness-Detection sticker invented

know how ripe is the fruit

Fruit and vegetable growers throw out thousands of bushels of fruit each year, only because it ripened faster than it could get to market or be sold. But, how can you know if a fruit or vegetable is ripe? Forget predicting them. Here is a ‘sticker’ that can tell consumers about it.

Invented by a University of Arizona professor, the stickers will be available to growers next year. It is hoped to make their way to supermarkets within two to three years, Mark Riley, a UA assistant professor of agricultural and biosystems engineering said.

The sticker has come as a break from fruits that look good on the outside, but later found to be not tasting good on the inside and can’t be eaten — because they’re under-ripe or overripe.
