Eco Factor: Zero-emission concept car designed to run on electricity.
At the LA Auto Show’s 2010 Design Challenge, Mazda revealed its design for a futuristic, low weight, electric concept car. Designed for the year 2020, the all-electric Mazda MX-0 will carry the aesthetics and performance of Mazda’s featherweight icon – the Mazda MX-5 – along to its next level by replacing a multitude of MX-5 parts with fewer, simplified ones.
The MX-0 minimizes the use of raw materials and utilizes innovative lightweight materials for its lower weight instead. The zero-emission concept car promises less energy consumption while flaunting high volume, automated manufacturing of sustainable, inexpensive composites that create a clean-running powertrain.
Some high-torque electric motors carry the extremely light car with great ease. Moreover, the carmaker eyes at manufacturing 500,000 units of it annually.
