Today infinite efforts are being made every day by the researchers, organizations and individuals to save the planet and its environment to make it a better place to sustain life. The Navy has also taken a significant step in lieu of its aim to cut down on fossil fuel use by the end of the year 2020 by constructing a 1,200 panel solar power system that will generate clean electricity at the Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
This military base at Guantanamo Bay has generated its own electricity since the time when its efforts to become independent from Cuba’s water and power supply. Since then there was no looking back. It carries out various other conservation measures that include “mock utility bills” and making use of vehicles that are powered by alternative fuels. Solar Source a licensed solar contractor who has focused on commercial, residential and industrial projects, constructed this solar arrangement which is the first of its kind on the island and will generate clean electricity for a new fitness center for military personnel. It offered all expertise in the manufacturing and construction of this 300KW solar energy system which required gigantic six-foot screws and conventionally fabricated augers first to drill in and then to break through the rock ground. Electricity proves out to be very expensive for the base as diesel fuel is brought in from abroad, this solar installation is an effort made by the military to cut on to the huge electricity bills and to save money.
